What's so specical about WebExaminer's item banking?

The nuts and bolts

An item contains the question and stimulus, the answer choices, any algorithms to be applied to the candidate’s responses, hints that may be provided to the student and answer explanations that may be presented to the student when acting as a revision tool.

Sales recommendations

Our unique item banking system allows you to easily link questions to your products and original question sources. Publishing houses have used WebExaminer to link questions to their range of products (exam papers, books by ISBN, chapter and page) in which those same questions reside. This allows reporting to identify which topics students are falling down in and to make recommendations to teachers or parents as to the most appropriate books to next purchase to address the gaps in the student’s knowledge.

Tagging Items

An item contains the question and stimulus, the answer choices, any algorithms to be applied to the candidate’s responses, hints that may be provided to the student and answer explanations that may be presented to student when acting as a revision tool.

Item writers can tag items by metadata, and then search for questions based on keywords or other metadata. You can, for example, tag and search by educational purpose such as key stage, grade, level, attainment target, strand, sub strand, topic. This tagging system facilitates the fast assembly of custom tests, or fast assembly of question pools based on search criteria.

Collaborative authoring

Our item banking system enables collaboration and management of the workflow of items across a variety of users such as authors, editors, administrator, teachers and reviewers. It is built with role based permissions workflow, designed to manage those roles that exist in your organisation related to the process of authoring, reviewing and quality assurance of items. We thus facilitate the creation of reliable, robust and creative assessments.

Security

We make sure you keep your exam content secure and fresh. Our system enables you to develop a bank of items and to manage the construction of exams, assessments, tests and short drills.
