The Client Situation:

K12.com, one of the largest virtual schools in the US, needed an efficient online placement testing tool to determine the level/grade of students. The existing placement tests and marking scheme were paper based, sometimes took students days to complete. K12 were eager to automate the tests and streamline the entire process.

The Goal:

K12 required an online test solution to appear as a seamless part of their placement testing process with movement of students from their web site into the WebExaminer system without requiring the user to log in a second time. The solution would automate new student registrations and feed information back to the K12 internal record systems upon commencement and completion of each test. K12 needed to ensure the tests were adaptive, easy to navigate and accurate. Upon a placement test being completed, school staff needed immediate access to student's scores in order to begin the placement process for each student.

The Results:

The adaptive student placement testing solution that WebExaminer put in place for K12.com reduced cycles of tests that once took students as long as 2 days to complete to, on average, under 1 hour. Using WebExaminer’s adaptive test engine, the grade/level is determined accurately and swiftly. WebExaminer both hosts and integrates these tests. The WebExaminer Single Sign On (SSO) process allows for a smooth user experience and seamless movement of students from the K12 site into the WebExaminer system without requiring the user to log in a second time.
